Professional whitening is safe and effective, but a few facts will help you get the best result.

How whitening works
Whitening gels contain peroxide, which breaks down stain molecules inside the enamel. Professional systems use stronger, carefully controlled concentrations than shop-bought kits.
In-studio or at-home trays?
In-studio whitening gives a noticeable lift in a single session. Custom take-home trays work more gradually and are great for maintaining results. Many patients combine both.
What whitening won't change
Crowns, veneers and fillings don't respond to bleaching. If you have visible restorations at the front, we'll plan around them so everything matches afterwards.
Some grey or deep internal staining may need bonding or veneers instead.
Keeping sensitivity in check
Mild, temporary sensitivity is common. Using a sensitivity toothpaste for a week beforehand and spacing out sessions keeps most patients comfortable.
